I believe that movement has the capacity to change lives; and through mindful movement, it is possible to find balance, build strength and improve mobility to achieve a harmonious state of wellness.

My Pilates journey started in 2002 as an alternative treatment for chronic pain related to scoliosis, a condition I was diagnosed with at a young age causing curvature of the spine.

With guidance from knowledgeable teachers and a deep desire to re-gain control of my body, I learned movement patterns that focused on lengthening my spine and creating strong, connected and balanced muscle integration with lasting effects. My Pilates practice positively influenced my quality of life by transforming the way I experienced movement and allowed me to overcome many barriers that exist with chronic pain. I wanted to share this revelation with the world. In 2011, I started on my path to becoming a teacher so that I could share this knowledge with others. I’ve never looked back since.

I am proud to be a Balanced Body certified Pilates Teacher and practicing member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists. I hold many continuing ed. certifications in the areas of pain management, hip and knee function, lower back and pelvic health, scoliosis and fascial anatomy to name a few.

Movement has been a constant throughout my life and I am grateful for my personal experiences that illuminate my love of teaching and desire to foster a stronger community through movement.

When I’m not nerding out about Pilates, you can find me in nature with my sweet doggo on a trail or a beach or chasing the sunset.

I welcome you whole-heartedly to CIRKL Pilates, where movement sets your stage for wellness.

Hi I’m Lisa and I am excited to welcome you into the world of Pilates and movement. My Pilates journey began shortly after I had my first son and re-started training to get back into playing soccer; a sport I played my entire life. Throughout my training, I discovered I had pretty significant incontinence postpartum and it was negatively affecting my soccer performance and activities in my daily life. I mentioned this to a friend, who recommended I try Pilates. Not only did it fix my incontinence (I was now able to play a whole game without having to change my uniform), but it also completely changed my game; I could kick farther, run faster and recover quicker. What the heck was this “Pilates thing”, I asked myself? I decided to find out.

Through Pilates, I learned how to tap into a strength that I never knew existed: a strength that arose from a conversation between all systems of my body, all communicating in sync and enabling me to move with ease and feel a balance between power and strength.

It’s been 23 years now and I’m eager to share what I have learned from knowledgeable instructors and educators, my comprehensive Balanced Body teacher training, MELT certification, BCRPA group fitness training, numerous educational courses and workshops, and my own personal practice. I have gained a passion to teach others to learn how to embody the power they hold inside, and that they too can gain strength, relieve pain, calm their nervous systems, regain mind/body connections, and feel a renewed sense of balance and strength.

We all have this in us, let’s bring it out.

I have always been fascinated by movement. As a track and field athlete, I learned early on about the relationships between movement patterns, athletic performance, and injury. My favorite coach regularly pointed out that “it’s physics” when providing technical corrections, which is perhaps why I went on to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

As an athlete, I was introduced to the Pilates method as a way to overcome SI joint pain caused by pelvic instability. I was amazed with the results and have since relied on Pilates, and my many wonderful Pilates teachers, to support me through various injuries and physical challenges over the years. I believe that the ability to move with ease and comfort though life is truly a gift. I am grateful for the opportunity to support CIRKL clients in their own movement journeys.

I completed my Comprehensive Pilates teacher training with Balanced Body in 2023 and have taken additional courses specific to the lower back and pelvic floor.
